More updates (please notice this is not my work, I’m just compiling stuff from other coders. Only thing I’m doing now is the shadow map).
Blockers
- F-15 Radar not burning through jammer: fixed but to be tested.
- F-15 ramp started: more progress, not finished yet.
Non Blockers
- ShadowMapping optimization for VR: 1/3 done. 2 and 3 are more complex, but I believe I’ll be able to make it. Draw calls went from 9k to 7k with only the first change. If I am able to do all 3, we will go down to 5-6k in airbases, which is pretty good. Fingers crossed.
- Autopilot: first implementation done, to be finished.
Other Stuff
- In the last test flight people reported SAMs not working as expected. This is under investigation, but seems like an old bug (not a regression).

@Seifer are there any chances that we get f15E model back to old f16 avionics model ? Currently it runs like a C model and thus strike eagle cant do strikes

@SyntaxErol You can set avionics type as the F-16 in the aircraft data file.
I cant guarantee it will work in 4.37.3 since callbacks for the F-16 will not work anymore with the F-15 …need to check if/how F-15E is affected. -

Will running campaigns be compatible with U3? -

@tiag i have done such edit last year but not sure if callbacks are different things can be a mess. Changing avionic type only bringed so much trouble with flight model also…

We cant support a F-15C cockpit with two sets of callbacks, avionics, cockpit siwtches.
You will not be able to use F-16 callbacks with the F-15C and its variants in the DB. -

Quick update:
Blockers
F-15 ramp started: main blocker. Right now it is playable, radar submodes working, EWS fine and lots of new stuff. I already finished 2 campaign missions. But no ramp start yet, but almost there!
Non Blockers
- Autopilot: under test, but haven’t heard about it for some days. Not really sure where it stands. UPDATE: seems @Mav-jp is just waiting for some real F15 pilot to confirm some data, if not, should be in this weekend.
- VR with HDR: committed and will being testing.
Finished Stuff Since last Update
- Tons of new switch logic of the F15.
- ShadowMapping optimization for VR: 2/3 done. I’m not going to do 3 for this release, too complex and not so much benefit. 1 and 2 are good enough though, I believe shadow mapping will be enabled with VR (20-30% reduction in draw calls on airbases).
- F-15 fixed radar not burning through jammer: radar seems to be working fine now. Very cool.

As I was just browsing throug the forums and tinkering around a bit with my VR Headset. Do you know if there is also anything in the update regarding “Parallel Projection” which is currently neccessary to use for Pimax 8K users and has a very harsh performance hit?Take all the time you need guys, we absolutely trust in you!

@Seifer As someone who has wanted a decent fidelity F15 with a 20+ framerate in VR your latest update (as well as news in another thread regarding F15 documentation) makes me incredibly happy.

@MCDeedle well, what I need is someone to fly campaign missions and check what is working and what is not (you know after hours of coding, Im usually a bit tired to fly full campaign missions). Anyway, up to you, if not feeling like testing, no worries.
