Played Falcon back in the day on my Amiga 500… Now into DCS but looking at BMS...

This “I want it, and I want it NOW” generation really gets on my tits sometimes…
:???:
“I want it now generation”?? which version of this generation do you mean?
 -
I’m not sure jumping down new guys throats is the best and most welcoming idea.
VR is popular, alot of people are going to ask about it. get over it.
I don’t know about you, but I don’t go to other peoples houses and tell them I can’t tolerate the way things are, and follow it up by comparing their house to the neighbors. That is essentially what this guy did. From the sound of it, he’s not interested in BMS in it’s current state anyway, so I don’t think we have to worry about him being a part of the community until his holy grail is brought to the table.

+1. DCS, IL2 Prepar, X-Plane all support VR, and all have million dollar development teams behind them. BMS in the meantime have a bunch of volunteers doing it in their spare time. This “I want it, and I want it NOW” generation really gets on my tits sometimes…
I don’t think the guy his from I want it now generation since he played amiga500

Yeah, and if new guy had bothered to take 15 minutes to find his way around, he’d find there are plenty Q and A on the very same subject. New guy has made 1 post here… 1 post.

Bad choice of wording on my part - let me rephrase:
This “I want it, and I want it NOW” society really gets on my tits sometimes…

GOTS guys… GOTS… and keep calm.

… “or I’ll have to shoot you”.
Eerrr… not quite. This is not a Clint Eastwood movie, incorrect quotation.
With best regards.

I remember my Amiga 500 so well. One of my best memories was Wing Commander. It was so popular that they tried to release it for that computer. At times, there was 2 or 3 fps during hard turns in the middle of a dogfight, most of the times barely 8 to 10. I loved it to death.
I wanted Wing Commander NOW and I got it, whatever the computer.I think I want BMS enough, whatever the screen.
-
“Flight of the Intruder” was also great to get a taste of things to come when you connected two Amigas via serial cable with your mate flying the Intruder and yourself in the Phantom… we do take these things for granted nowadays far too often.
All the best,
Uwe

Don’t worry everyone, guys.
BMS 4.36 will also run on Amigas.
With best regards.

I do that all the time. I have knocked on 3 stranger’s houses today… asked to have a look around. Two of the houses I wasn’t happy about the decor (or furniture). I offered constructive advice on how to create a better aesthetic flow. The 3rd house was just right, so I complimented the owner and left.

I used to connect two amigas for Stunt Car and Top Gun?

How about a kickstarter to fund VR support? I’d pay.

You cannot buy time with cash.
N+1 times have been explained why is not set up a kickstarter project for this. Because the point of BMS. It is free. -
However… I’m no longer able to tolerate staring at a tiny 2d compressed image.
Will BMS ever support VR?
I mean… DCS, IL-2, Prepar, X-Plane all support VR.
Good luck, don’t look back and you miss the most complex and living environment which ever has been created…
Just a hint. The quality of a simulator does not depend on VR support…

Just a hint: The quality of F BMS is not under question. I just prefer being fully immersed rather than staring at a tiny 2d window. I was staring at a tiny 2d image since the 80’s and in VR since 2006. It’s not negotiable. No going back to flat-earth simming.

Fine. See ya within 3-4 weeks. Maybe we can learn that time “tolerate” your comment and approach…

I respect your opinion and (though I am waiting for the VR Resolution Wars to begin to try one out) understand the appeal, but “immersion” means different things to different people. BMS immerses me in the whole feeling of being part of an ongoing, ever changing war and having thousands of options. Graphics are 1% of what I “see” when playing, and though of course I would like the latest/greatest graphics I wouldn’t trade BMS for DCS even if Microsoft licensed their latest graphics to them…. but I would enjoy both for what they are.
-
Guys please, no need to argue. For sure BMS team has nothing against VR and we would like to get VR support ASAP, the problem is that it is a slow process and it also depends on other internal processes which are going on already. So to sum it up just read D-J post again:
@Dee-Jay:Hi!
Answer is: Probably yes.
The other question then could be: “When?”
There is simply no answer to that question.

I get what you’re saying. Games can be immersive outside of VR. I have played one particular game on my iPad for thousands of hours. When it comes to flight sims though I can’t go back. DCS does have issues and some of those issues may never be fixed under the current leadership. Seems to have become a module selling platform (although I did appreciate the graphics overhaul). I find IL-2 more immersive than DCS in VR… for some reason it just feels like I’m in WW2 to a degree I haven’t felt with DCS even with the spitfire module.
