Scenery floodlights or a handheld flashlight (similar to how it’s implemented in MSFS2020, for example) to illuminate the cockpit would be very useful, as the nights appear to be a lot darker now than before, and it’s impossible to find any knob or switch in the pit.
The current method of using the NVGs until you have battery power, followed by the spotlight until you have engine running, works but isn’t always realistic.
Also, since the FLCS Reset button has become more important during the ramp start, I’d liked to point out #3 in the opening post of this thread, but I don’t think any of the issues brought forward there, with exception of the GBU-39, have been addressed already?

Scenery floodlights or a handheld flashlight …
EDIT, I’m a dot, I should have read the post fully first, sorry
Don’t we have the spotlights (from BATT) already?
I though it was a new addition to 4.34? -

Good question. I thought spotlight would be a RL floodlight. Maybe if make spotlight less bright it would replace a floodlight linked with battery power bus. How does it work in the real jet?
-
The real jet doesnt have any light in the cockpit until the point of main generator is running (idk atm, if stby gen alsondoes the job). But there is no flood- or backlight with only the jets battery on. Except one little utilitylight, which is mounted on the right console outboards of the KY58-PANEL. You can detach that from its mount and use it like a torch.

I though it was a new addition to 4.34?Same.
Yes, the spotlight is available since (at least) 4.34, but as I said and Red Dog confirmed, it requires battery power. If you can’t find the BATT switch, or don’t need it at that stage yet (e.g. during cockpit interior check, you don’t want to deplete the BATT already), you’re currently forced to use the night vision goggles. For realism sake, even though none of this is (currently) implemented in BMS, NVGs are focused to infinity and should be useless for any near vision or cockpit manipulation, have a battery life time of their own, and you usually have to make a choice between NVGs or the HMCS pre-flight, as you cannot (easily) switch one for the other in-pit.
This is why pilots will often bring a small flashlight, finger light or head light with them during night flights.
When I say I like how it’s implemented in MSFS, this is what I mean (top right).
Or as shown in this video that modded the colour to red:

Terma PIDS+ has UV warning sensors, 3 on each pylon. Only EPAF and ANG uses them as far as I know.
Pretty sharp catch this yours, dear Canuck…
but getting reliable data will be hard, I’m afraid. Nice if they come, anyway, I would be glad to have them at my hand.
Those manpads became a stingy thing… in all senses, I mean.
With best regards.

I think we´re done here, hu?
Should be. I understand its usually a new thread for a new version, no?
-
The spotlight feature to me should be a simulation of holding a flashlight and Aircraft battery or power should not affect its use. This is just my opinion.

A finger light function would be cool…they have those - little battery lights that simply can be worn like a ring. Then one could just point it with the mouse as if using a virtual hand. Could also make the zoom light function such, for a wider beam…but I suspect the zoom light shouldn’t work until BATT switch is ON.

DCS F-16 has exactly that tiny spotlight accurately implemented.

And at the end after hundreds of hours of work we end up with this kind of shit

First minute was funny… not so much after that.

Supposing the person or people who did this didn’t just make something extremely awkward for the devs, I do hope you didn’t spend hundreds of hours for people like them, but rather for people like us to spend hundreds of hours using the software and toying with the idea that we’re contributing from our (at least my) humble position.
I think I’ve already seen that kind of video… I wonder where (everywhere obviously, prize of originality).
Oh, merry Christmas

Normally we are doing it for ourselves first then we simply share. When we can and/or think it is valuable for the global community, we are doing some other things on ppl request even if we personally do not need it or do not really care about.
But the truth is that we are spending so much time on Dev tasks that we are even not playing the sim at all anymore except sometimes for quick in-game tests. -

I told you before , there will only-EDIT : always !!! sorry ) be jealous and haters .

What a slap in the face for community driven, selfless and heartfelt work. I didn’t find the lack of thankfulness funny and just skipped over most of it.
Actually, I am saddened that some people can’t appreciate wonderful, freely given gifts. It says something about them, and makes it clear how valuable the gift we have really is.
Thank you Devs and community.

I think people could think like that. The changes of 2 to 4 years effort could be small.
However, the person who made the video clip is missing important points the philosophy of development and developing BMS is not a full time job like other PC game developers.
Developing as fun has limitation to progress. and making this progress is not easy because of our lives which require a lot of our times.
What is important or what is priority to make this sim more real? Environment is the first? or avionic? BMS team decides. not us. We just give them ideas.
As I was a software developer, I think DX11 implementation is a game changer which will improve BMS Falcon dramatically in the future.I think the person on the video clip should not play BMS Falcon anymore because he does not know how much valuable this BMS hard working outcome is. and he seems like he does not like BMS 4.35 version.
Why you play a PC game or combat simulator whatever you name it as long as you do not like it?
Please stop criticize and play others like DCS.BMS team,
Thanks for your surprising Christmas gift, BMS 4.35. I have been playing your works from BMS 2.03, I assume you are the team released 2.03 version. and still and will do as always.

Life goes on, many people around the world are excited about falcon development. Who loves and follow this development knows about the possibility to have some bugs here and there. They have been fixed in previous versions, they will be fixed again.
Bad critics are welcome. The answer is simple : do better.I hope with my poor English you understand what I mean.
Happy Christmas

Dear BMS Developers,
most of the Community And myself appreciate the hard work that you do to make this SIM better and giving us new features as well sort through and streamline the code from which you inherited this project.
It is my belief that this Video is either came from Immature members from the Other Sim (Erm you know the TLA ) or Immature New BMS Players Whom don.t have the decency to RTFM…
Pleases don,t let the idiots whom don,t have an idea about opening a PDF document discourage you in doing what comes passionately to you all,
I Have been involved in Simming with BMS since 432 but really got to know how well helpful and supportive the community is since 433U1. However since release of 434 on march 2019 (or there about) i seen the Devs work very hard in providing fixes and updates at an incredible pace (so much so we had U4 in a 12 month period)
a majority in this BMS community will know that the small (very small) niggles will be sorted in a reasonable matter of time…
it has occurred to me through reading one Devs post that maybe there is a need for a dedicated and trusted core of Beta Testers ,Now all i am doing is making suggestions however we have seen some dedicated Simmers such as Max Waldorf ,Unleashed Code, and Lorik Eioman etc etc Whom have a sensible understand of the sim.
Maybe it could be beneficial for the BMS Dev Team to employ their skillsets for Beta Testing purposes and provide much useful data back to Dev team.If there is a need for a Larger Scale Beta (I.E 32 player) then it can be through them to employ other Trusted Beta testers that have the decency to RTFM and can be trusted to keep Security of the IP. i understand this may not be an option for you but as i state it is only a suggestion as issues can only be identified in a larger MP environments…
Anyhow please keep up with the good Work WE ALL appreciate the Tenacity and Diligence the Dev Team have
Kind Regards and Merry Xmas and many thanks for your work
Haggis
