In my experience it is not a question of restarting the server, it is the client that needs to exit fully and re-join it.
Good to know, thanks!

Yesterday I was doing multiplayer in Balkans theater. My buddy was host and we started with a flight from Amendola. In the DTC I had set Amendola tower on preset UHF 15. The flight went okay but my lead was shot down. So, we went back to the lobby and my buddy planned another flight from Brnik airport. I joined the game and we did a taxi start because we were running out of time. When I got into the pit my radio was still set to preset 15 (amendola) Upon entering the pit I heard the pilot of my jet requesting taxi from the tower. This is usual behavior when starting with taxi instead of ramp. I didn’t hear the reply from the tower as we switched uhf to preset 1 and vhf to frequency 118, which is the tower of Brnik. Now when I tried contacting the tower of Brnik I could not hear the tower, nor did I hear my own pilot voice requesting taxi. My buddy however heard the reply from the tower to my call. The same happened when I requested QNH.
Now, this morning I tried a taxi take off again from Brnik in single player. The UHF preset 15 was set to amendola just like last night. Upon entering the pit, my pilot did not request taxi. Only when I switched vhf to the tower of Brnik did my pilot request taxi. I could hear the tower clearly as expected. If I switched to uhf preset 15 I could contact Amendola tower, although it was far away and not clear to hear, but this was expected. switching back to vhf 118 and uhf 1 I could talk to Brnik tower and hear the replies from the tower.
Now, we’ve been told that this kind of bug happens in multiplayer and it’s advised to always restart the server before flying another flight in a campaign. We only seem to be running into problems when doing consecutive missions on the same server instance. Sometimes the radios don’t work as expected, like we had last night. Sometimes other bugs appear.
So I’m wondering, is any work being done to resolve these multiplayer issues and why don’t online servers like falcon online and the veterans gaming server experience these issues? They have their servers running all the time and people log in and out and make flights without having to restart the server between each flight. I would say this is a bug that needs to be adressed. I would expect that I can fly multiple sorties in the same server instance in the same campaign without having to restart the server and without bugs appearing.
@M79:
After two f18 ramp starts and 2 flameout landings on carrier that was supposed to be carrier training missions just for take of and landing i find that knob or in f18 button to be something to remember.
No probs on takeoff but after about 1,5 minutes engines just gone cold. I was at turning back to carrier when engines suddenly died at 1200ft. Last moments I did turn my plane off from carrier cause I can clearly see that that I don’t make it to deck.
Next with 1800ft of altitude with same i setup managed to restart engines and those were spooling at about 60% when i hit deck. So in this case engines seems to got some fuel…
Get in deck but my gear did not like my landing.M79
In the F-18 this switch should be set the same as you would in the F-16, that is one click with the left mouse button. In the F-18 it will say that’s the left position, but because in the F-16 that’s the NORM position it needs to be there. Setting it to NORM in the F-18 will lead to the same behavior as clicking it twice in the F-16. It’s built on the F-16 avionics, so you have to keep that in mind for this particular knob.
Freefalcon uninstalls Microprose Falcon 4 if it finds it. It actually gives a warning about that when installing freefalcon. I did the same thing recently because I wanted to fly the Blackbird for fun.
Might want to leave the lighting effects on “per pixel” because per vertex causes the light cone of your taxi lights to be disabled and you don’t want that at night. (at least on my system it works like that.)
Depends on what you want to do. Some mods break multiplayer compatibility but if everyone uses it or you fly on your own you can try them.
AFAIK this is the intended behavior. Manual disconnect usually leads to the end of a fuel session, so you have to re-request fuel to get fuel again. I believe this behavior has been around since before BMS even.
If you don’t have trackIR you can move your view down with the mouse, like you probably did to make that screenshot. That’s the only thing I can think of.
Change the following lines in your falcon bms.cfg:
set g_bEnableExclusiveMouseCapture 0
set g_bMouseButton4TogglesClickablePit 1
This will prevent the dual mouse from appearing in game in the first place. Also works when you’re working with dual screen if you want to manage things on your second screen.
(in case of dual screen you need the toggle to disable the mouse, because otherwise you can get a second mouse on the second screen when you go back to Falcon.)
This reminds me of when I started out with Falcon Allied force. I didn’t know anything about the game, but I went into instant action air to air and fired missiles at anything I saw. Just lock and hit pickle. I didn’t know anything about the range of the amraam nor did I ever hear of pitbull. I was wondering why most of my missiles missed but I enjoyed it nevertheless. Then I started really studying the sim, because I wanted to hit more targets. I don’t know how much more simple the game can be with the instant action included. It was fun for me when I started out, so it must be fun for others to start out with.
When I click on the torrent or magnet link, it takes me to a ‘blocked’ url. I can’t download the torrent. Any solution for that? Perhaps someone can share the torrent itself here?
Edit: okay, Avira antivirus had flagged this 108 site as a malware site. I trust you guys anyway so I whitelisted it Problem solved.
I’ve put them to none, like I did in 4.32… it’give you immediate response from the stick which is nice when refueling and such.
I had no problems with win10, although I did run a hack to remove the spyware in it
Saitek X52 old version requires windows not to automatically get drivers for hardware. This is a simple settings change.
Also, I’ve had no luck with the latest software and drivers from Saitek, Although they did re-introduce the old X52 when they
made a deal with the guys from Frontier. I have installed a version 6.something of the drivers and software and everything works perfect.
In my opinion having an updated, legal, latest version of windows is paramount.
I used to run a windows 7 install, only to find my computer one morning arranged as some hacker’s warez mirror.
In general, with computers and software, I don’t listen to what others say, because that is nonsensical.
I’m going to use i, and if it’s a hype to diss windoze I’m not interested in that.
If you’re worried about windows leaking information, you setup your firewal… if you’re still worried, you put a hardware firewall between your pc and internet.
As far as I know, privacy intrusion is still optional, and if you just take the effort to do a decent configuration of the machine you’re going to do alot of things with,
you’ll have a really fine OS in windows.
I
Windoze is still that fastest OS for gaming, imho.
Okay, checked it out. No improvement where I need it; in the campaign. I have a somewhat old Hyperthreading P4. I also tested adding -cpucount=2 -exThreads=3 to fool BMS into thinking I have two cores. When in a TE, Dogfight, instant action, or as a client on someone else’s machine who is running a campaign, I get 25 to 30 frames. This is acceptable. When I run a campaign myself however Falcon only delivers about 12 frames throughout the flight. Doesn’t matter if I’m on the ground or flying. Any solutions for the slowness of the campaign engine would be nice. This didn’t do the trick. I’m afraid I have to resort to shutting down all the shaders to decently run a campaign. (I have already disabled heat blur, shadows and watermapping)
I’ll run BMS with this change and the koreaobjects file from Red Flag, which I also changed out
I’ll update if I see some changes.
The 3d drivers are present in the 285 version, but you need a card that supports it. And then, I would say if you don’t use it, it wouldn’t require resources. But some people swear by having the leanest driver possible for their card. Newer drivers often add functionality for newer cards, but the driver files become in a sense bloated if you don’t need it. The exception on this is when an error exists in an older version. Check the changelogs. I had no performance decrease in BMS with either 275 or 285 drivers. And I don’t upgrade any further, because my card is from jan. 2011
You should’ve installed it on a fresh, unmodded install of BMS. As the instructions are clear about.
here’s some handy info for transiotioning from X52 to X52 pro software:
use your old profiler that came with the X52 to profile the .dat file. Then it’ll create a .pr0 file.
This pr0 file doesn’t function completely in the new software, but you can load it.
Then you’ll find that all the functions are still as they were, i.e. the names and key-callbacks.
You’ll only have to select them from the right-click menu and put them in the right boxes for the buttons you want to assign them to.
So, if you profiled it once, (more than) half the work is done, and you can enjoy your X52 pro in no-time.
I don’t know if it works the other way around, though.
@Sirbum: the TGP is not perfect in BMS. Point lock will only be possible when the contrast is high enough.
For me, it mostly works on vehicles, but not on buldings. The maverick has no problem finding the ‘hot spot’ on buildings though… (this is an area in the middle of the bottom of the building.)
Did some more research on the X52 versus the pro.
It seems their software and drivers are backward compatible.
Downloading the latest drivers for either the Pro or the regular gives the same files.
The main difference in electronics is the MFD on the throttle of the Pro, and its functionality to display multiple pages compared to the old X52. The other difference is the lights… I’m not sure if the blue lights can change color, but they should be able to be dimmed and have flickering effects. I’ll have to actually convert to the new software to be sure, and that means creating my profile for BMS all over again. An then hope it still works…
Anyways, since it’s backward compatible and the same software and drivers, you could probably do anything the software allows you to do, when selecting the old X52. It turns out, after some reading that Saitek hardware department was already finished with the X52 pro, but the software dept. hadn’t made the software yet, so do check that you have the latest, especially for the Pro version.
