Just a thought - because I will (cough) admit to trying to do that a couple of times when I first started back to BMS!

Personally I don’t have radar range bound to my throttle. I either use the OSB buttons with the mouse, use TDC cursor bump (move TDC to top or bottom of FCR and the range will scale to the next setting) or the key bindings…which I forget at the moment. They’re something like Ctrl-F1 or Ctrl-1.

Thanks for your reply. Yes, that is the post to which I was referring.
So, I’ll just stick to the cobbled together DX mapping on my Pro, albeit with many redundant modes etc.
Unfortunately, and I’m sure there are many BMS fliers like me (?), discussions about registery changes and other coding type solutions are beyond me.
Perhaps there should be a Forum tab for those tech challenged among us 😉

Got a feeling this isn’t going to work quite as well as I hope, but I’ve got all of the controls at the top bound from that keyfile builder bound to my stick. So hopefully I won’t require too much more to get this up and running. Finally, a game with more frustrating keybinds than DCS.

I started to update the file and particularly the keystroke.

Hey, so I am following along in the “DX CH Fighterstick and Pro Throttle” pdf file, but I don’t really understand what to do when we get to page 6 in the section which says “Define DX button map”.

I open the spreadsheet, enable Macros in Excel 2007, and then I go the proper tab, but now what?

In the BMS Setup UI make sure your controller is set to Joystick - Hotas Warthog

Then go to advanced, then flight control and set the CH pedals like this.

sorry to necro, I have the wondering cursor in BMS and DCS, I set a deadzone of about 15 in Control manager, problem solved.

I settled on about 15 too. With a deadzone I find the two speed slewing thing becomes tricky to use, so I use a script for slower slewing when the cursor is shifted. If anyone knows how to extend the “slow” band that would be a better solution.

I probably should have been more clear. I want to use the microstick to look around the cockpit as I lack TIR and wanted to see if it would work. I assume this would entail binding it to the mouse cursor and enabling mouse look but I cant figure out how to do that if that is even the correct way to go about it.

the hat switch I am referring to is the one to the left of the microstick. The one that moves in 8 directions. I actually found a thread that said I had to bind it as keys rather than a POV switch in CHCM.

The path of least resistance, headache, complications, as was meant to be, etc is use the microstick for avionics Cursor X/Y control only. Use any of the other hat switches for POV.

If you’ve confirmed the left hat switch works in CHCM, set all 8 of the throws to Dx mode in CHCM (then save the profile and download it into the controllers). Then start the sim and open the Controller settings. Browse your key file of choice (e.g., BMS-Full) and look for the “Rotate View Up, Down, Left, Right” group of functions. Assign each of the appropriate Up Dn Lt Rt throws of the hat switch to their respective key function (click the green text in the Key column [might say “No key assigned”]) then simply actuate one of the hat switch throws to bind it to that particular function. You can then bind in same fashion the remaining 4 diagonal Dx throws for other callback functions in the game. Don’t forget to save your settings when done. See game docs for more details on Dx binding of controller buttons to game key file callbacks.

Most of my time spent after that was trying to figure out the in-game Idle Detent for the ramp start. I didn’t know you had to click the paddle switch with the mouse when pulling the throttle back to Idle. Is there some reason pressing the button on the joystick doesn’t work?

Left pinky switch on the PT mimics position of idle cutoff (paddle switch) lever on real throttle. In CHCM, set that switch to Dx mode (Device 3, button X), then map it to Idle Detent in BMS Setup/Controllers. Voila, no more mouse click of idle cutoff lever needed.

I have this issue a bit - I think the deadzone doesnt go big enough for some ministicks. Hardware issue really, though I would welcome an extra-large deadzone option.

There is a callback HotasPinkyShift which can be partially set in game and partially needs to be set outside the game. It raises all the button numbers by 256 when held and does the same thing as SimPinkySwitch when tapped quickly. This provides a shift function when held.

Assuming you’re meaning the “pinky-shifted” layer built into BMS… You won’t see the command in the UI. You’ll have to test in a TE. 🙂

I am so confuse about this subject!!! I would like to enjoy this simulator but I just can’t get my joysticks configuration to work!!
When you use a profile created with ch manager, do you need a keyfile to go with it?
I’m in falcon bms setup and when I click on buttons on the joystick, not everything shows up as the ch profile!
Do you have to load a keyfile?
Help please!

installed a CH MFP, which works perfect in windows.

Once I want to test it in BMS4.33 X64, it does not show up in the list of controllers.

I run a Win7 X64 version

It won’t show up until you download a BMS map to the MFP.
Also make sure you do this every time before you enter the sim. Otherwise it will wipe out all your HOTAS settings because it won’t see the MFD and the device order will change. This is normal.
